Mary Treacy is currently Outreach Coordinator for Washington, DC-based OpenTheGovernment.org. Many will remember Mary’s years of leadership in the local information community, as director of Metronet and as a founder and director of the Minnesota Coalition on Government Information (MCOGI).

Open The Government seeks to advance the public's right to know and to reduce unnecessary secrecy in government, in the belief that transparency is essential to ensuring integrity and accountability. Mary will share the work of her organization and how it harmonizes with the goals of MALL and AALL to facilitate access to justice and legal information for all citizens.

Resources mentioned during presentation - Open government and access to information

Transportation: We suggest you take the Green Line to the East Bank Station. Exit the platform on the west and turn left, descend the stair case and follow the walkway until it forks at the end. Turn left at the “T” and the library entrance will be on your left about 30 feet later.

Parking is available at three ramps listed here by distance from the library: Washington Ave. Ramp located on Union St. SE (use Google maps if you try this one); Hospital Patient / Visitor Ramp on Delaware St. SE (most expensive option); and Oak Street Ramp on Oak Street, three blocks from our location.
