Temporary Library Technician – Part-Time, 24 hours per week

Library: Minneapolis and St. Paul Branch Library locations, U.S. Courts.

Position requires working in both the downtown St. Paul and downtown Minneapolis locations.

Description: The U. S. Courts Library serves all federal judges in Minnesota. The Library Technician will assist in maintaining the currency and organization of the collection by receiving and processing library materials. This includes checking in books and serials and processing them for shelving.  Other duties include filing loose-leaf updates and pocket parts.  Library Technician will also provide basic reference services to library patrons using print and electronic resources, promote library to local users and assist librarian with other projects as needed.  The Technician will often be the only staff member on duty in one of the locations.

Qualifications:  Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, two years general clerical experience or a college degree, and one year of library or comparable experience.  Other necessary qualifications include good computer skills; word processing software, spreadsheets, internet searching. Ability to prioritize and work independently. Attention to detail, strong problem solving and organization skills.  Ability to manage some physical labor; lifting boxes of books and shelving books.  Preferred:  3 years of library experience, law library experience especially preferred.  Library software knowledge, especially Sirsi.  Customer service experience. Background check required for successful applicant.

Availability:  Position is available immediately and will extend for up to 1 year subject to funding.

Job Pays: Approximately $17.68 per hour & up depending on qualifications.
