Law Practice and Technology Librarian - University of Minnesota Law Library

The Law Practice and Technology Librarian plays a primary role in the integration of Law Library services and instructional programs into Law School initiatives focused on preparing students for evolving legal practice environments, particularly with regard to legal practice technologies. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing instructional programs on the use of existing and emerging legal technologies, and the impact these technologies have on the practice of law. This position will be responsible for all aspects of teaching the upper-division two-credit Law Practice and Technology course. The position also will provide subject-specific law practice and technology presentations in clinical and doctrinal courses. Additional instructional responsibilities may include developing and teaching one-unit courses related to the use of technology in specific law practice areas, and participating in first-year legal research instruction. Additional responsibilities include participation in other Law Library initiatives and programs, including the design and management of library spaces devoted to law practice technologies.

Digital Technology Specialist - University of Minnesota Law Library

The Digital Technology Specialist works independently and as part of a team with the Associate Director for Access Services & Digital Initiatives, the Curator of Rare Books and Special Collections and the Special Collections Assistant Librarian. The position reports to the Associate Director for Access Services & Digital Initiatives and is fully integrated into the Law Library organizational structure. The position’s scope of interactions includes faculty, staff, students, external vendors, and members of the general public.

State Law Library Assistant - Minnesota Judicial Branch

The Minnesota State Law Library is pleased to announce an opening for a Library Assistant to perform clerical library work. Work involves performing a wide range of library tasks that support the library's mission. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Library Division Supervisor.

This is a part-time, permanent position classified as a Library Assistant II. This position will work approximately 15 hours per week during regular business hours, Monday-Friday. Work will be performed on-site in the Minnesota State Library at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. This position manages the Firm’s Practice Support and Solutions function, including library, knowledge management, and end user support and training. Responsible for providing exemplary service and support to assist end users in utilizing technology and accessing information resources, assisting in the delivery of innovative solutions, and managing the training and communication on key information technology and knowledge resources. Library Technician
US Courts Library – Minneapolis / St. Paul

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES: The Library Technician will receive and process library materials in two federal courthouses. These courthouses are located in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Other duties include filing loose-leaf updates and pocket parts, receiving and processing mail, making claims for library materials not received, greeting patrons, following up on overdue materials, and collecting news articles about federal judges in Minnesota and North Dakota. The Library Technician will assist the Librarian with special projects as needed. Special projects may include archival work, wellness programs, legal research trainings, civics education programs; and other duties and projects as assigned.

      • Provide research to the Client & Competitive Intelligence Department, Business Development & Marketing Department, practice groups, industry teams, recruiting department, and to strategic committees of the firm, in the form of useful/actionable research such as: alerts; lists of business contacts; reports on companies; and identify potential markets and industries, as well as provide competitive analyses, all in alignment with the firm’s strategic plan, and the practice group and industry teams’ business plans
      • Teach attorneys, paralegals and other employees effective research techniques using print and electronic resources
      • Assist attorneys in framing and solving their information needs
      • Provide research and analysis of potential vendors, vendor products and electronic research sources to operations departments as requested
